Supporting Rural Teacher Recruitment, Development, and Retention with Financial Incentives

Description: Recruiting, developing, and retaining teachers remain pressing issues for many rural schools. Increasingly, states are providing financial incentives to help rural schools meet these challenges. In this session, staff from the North Dakota Department of Public Instruction and the Colorado Center for Rural Education will share their experiences with developing and implementing financial supports for rural educators in their states. Then, researchers from the Regional Educational Laboratory Central will share how they are supporting these partners in investigating the implementation and outcomes of their initiatives.
